Florentina G. Garza, age 84, of San Antonio, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1934 to the late Cosme and Petra (Martinez) Guadiana in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Brackenridge High School and Our Lady of the Lake University, with her degree in Accounting.
She married Richard T. Garza, I, on August 23, 1962.
She retired from Noland Plumbing Supply (formerly, Mars Plumbing Supply) after 30-years of dedicated service in their bookkeeping department. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, neighbor and friend. She worked her entire life to support her children and family. She approached every challenge with strength, courage and determination. In her youth, she was known for her passion of music, dancing, Hot-Rods and customized cars, having performed the routine maintenance on them herself. She would often lend her ‘ride’ to her male colleagues so they could enter them in car shows.
She was committed to her neighborhood prayer group, providing spiritual strength and encouragement to anyone that needed it. Her family and friends will miss her natural ability to provide the guidance needed, regardless of the circumstances.
In her free time, Florentina enjoyed bird watching, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Richard T. Garza, I; brothers, Constantino Guadiana and Valentino Guadiana.
She is survived by her children, Rudolfo (Tonie) Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Sandi (Jimmy) Guerra, Richard T. (Brenda) Garza, II, Omar (Angela) Garza; grandchildren, Christina, Adrianne, Anavette, Amanda, Krystal, Malachi; great grandchildren, Jude, James, Angel, Tristan, Josiah, Ava; siblings, Amador Guadiana, Silvester Guadiana, Marcelinda Guadiana, Juventina Guadiana; grand-dogs, Bear, Luke, Cairo, Cadbury, and many close friends she considered family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Family is receiving friends on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78230.
