Floyd Joseph Halty, age 90, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in the family home in Lacoste, Texas, the youngest of 5 children, to Charles O. and Ida Loessberg Halty. The family, Swiss and Alsatian descendants, emigrated to the US in the 1840's. Floyd grew up on the family farm and attended Medina Valley Schools. He is a veteran of the US Air Force and served during WWII. Later he worked as the credit manager at Frank Bros., Jorrie's, Joske's and Dillard's. He turned his passion for gardening into a 30-year career in landscaping; all self-taught.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Nora Reus, Alvin Halty, Gladys Mann and Leonard Halty. Floyd is survived by his daughter, Terry Kennemer and husband Bill; son, Scott Halty; grandchildren, Lance (Joni), Kristin (Ted), Ashley (Kirk); great-grandchildren, Kirk, Cole, Carter and Paige; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
