Forrest “Ed” Alexander, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on June 29, 1941, in Columbus, Georgia, to Dorothy Goodman and Forrest R. Alexander. He passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and dedication to his profession.
Ed was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Jo Beth Alexander, and a cherished grandfather to Alexandra “Lexi” Soward of San Antonio, Texas. He treasured his family and the many relationships he built throughout his life.
He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Sue Crawford; nieces, Cindy (David) Mireles; Barbara (Karen) Crawford; Sandra (Alan) Williams, all of Jacksonville, Florida; Great-niece, Whitney (Drew) Rogers; Great-nephews, Christopher Smith, David (Chloe) Mireles, Jr. and Winston (Jesse) Williams; Great-great-nephew, Tyler Smith; Great-great-nieces, Mackenzie Mireles, Maybre, Mireles, Madelyn Mireles, and Sterling Rogers; and many other loving family members and friends. Ed’s extended family held a special place in his heart, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Cheryl Alexander Soward; brother-in-law, Gene Crawford; and niece, Dottie Billings.
Faith was an important part of Ed’s life. He was a devoted and very active member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where he was involved for many years and faithfully served as an usher. His commitment to his church reflected his generous spirit and his desire to serve others.
Ed also had a deep passion for professional photography. He was a proud member of the Professional Photographers of Texas and was actively involved in the organization and the professional photography community. His dedication and leadership were recognized when he served as President of the organization in 1997. Through his work and involvement, he made lasting contributions to the photography profession and to those who shared his passion.
Ed will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his faith, his service to his church, and his love of photography. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, granddaughter, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m, Monday, August 31, 2026, Concordia Lutheran Church
A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church 16801 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78258
Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial park.
