She lived in Indiana with her husband for about six years where both of her children, Willard Earl Ashe and Kenneth Lee Ashe, were born before returning with her husband to Texas. She worked for more than thirty years, selling televisions and related equipment at Montgomery Wards in what was then Wonderland Mall. Frances was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). In her youth she was a member of Uvalde Methodist Church. She was also a member of Los Angeles Heights Methodist Church of San Antonio for many years.
Frances is survived by her sons, Willard Earl Ashe and Kenneth Lee Ashe, Grandchildren Marc David Ashe, Darbi Leigh Gunter, Annie Marie Chiappini, and Joseph Alden Ashe as well as her Daughter-in-law, MaryLou Russell, Great Granddaughter, Luna Safron Chiappini, Great Granddaughter, Olive Kallisti Chiappini, Great Grandson, Augustus Alden Ashe and Great Grandson, Ethan Micah Ashe, Grand-daughters-in-law Claire Ashe, Leslie Ashe and Karla Gunter. Grand-son-in-law, Cody Chiappini, Great grand-son-in-law, Colin Barnard,Great Grandson, Tyler Gunter, Great Granddaughter, Whitney Barnard, Great Grandson, Preston Gunter, Great Great Grandson, Raidan Jared Barnard, Great Great Grandson, Dallin Tyler Gunter, Great Great Granddaughter, Emma Grace Gunter.
Her son Willard Ashe recalled the last time they ate together at Luby's, people kept stopping by the table and saying things like, "Frances, how are you? I haven't seen you in a while." After the meal Willard said, "Mom, you're like celebrity in these parts." She laughed.
Frances was a kind soul who never spoke ill of anyone. She was always an optimist, always cheerful. She's an angel now.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home with a service to be held at 12pm with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
