Francesca Manuela Huerta was born at home, in San Antonio, on June 4, 1942 to Petra de Leon Huerta and Eulalio Cortez Huerta. She was the 6th of 9 children. After high school Frances enrolled in Cosmetology school and received her license working as a hair stylist. She later worked for a doctor in downtown San Antonio where she met her husband Kouros Bahrami. After 3 months of courting, with her parent’s permission, she moved thousands of miles away to a faraway land called Iran and married Kouros in Isfahan. She then changed her name to Frances D. Bahrami. She lived in Iran (mainly Tehran) for 13 years (with a couple of years in Italy and Pakistan) until the 1979 Revolution changed the trajectory of her and her family’s lives. This event caused Frances and Kouros to move their family to San Antonio, Texas. In San Antonio, Frances went back to school and received a secretarial degree at Durham Business College and worked for Sears Roebuck Company until her retirement 30 plus years later.
Frances was adventurous, loved to travel, read, take pictures of nature, cook, sew, and plant flowers. She was funny, smart, fun and most of all very caring. She loved having family over to dote on, especially on Sundays when she would make a huge feast for lunch. She had great interest in politics and the world. She also had a knack at linguistics and learning and inheriting the customs of others. Besides English, she spoke fluent Farsi, Spanish and Italian.
Frances was a devoted Christian, a prayer warrior. She regularly attended Thursday Night Bible Class, was an active member of St. Matthew’s Mission Group and assisted in the 11am Mass on Sundays.
For 15 years Frances battled cancer. She was a fierce fighter and survivor. Her oncologist named her his “Star Patient”. Frances endured multiple chemotherapies, surgeries, and radiation treatments. She lived with multiple medication side effects causing disabilities and discomfort, yet she never wavered in her trust and love for Jesus Christ. She always carried her cross with dignity and thankfulness.
Frances loved and adored her family, most especially her two grandchildren, Hannah and Trinity. She was very proud of the women they have become. They were her most prized possession.
Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kouros Bahrami, her parents Petra de Leon Huerta and Eulalio C. Huerta, her sister Cecilia Ruiz and her brother Gilbert Huerta. She is survived by her children Kambiz John (Senka) Bahrami, Katayoun Jane (Steven) Bahrami-Golub, her grandchildren Hannah Ariana Bahrami and Trinity Roya Zurovec. She is also survived by her siblings Eulalio Huerta, Geraldo Huerta, Margaret Morgan, Catalina Brown, Irene Howell and Eugene Huerta.
Frances passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 16, 2026 surrounded by her family. Frances leaves a legacy of love and service, and an unwavering trust in Jesus Christ.
