Fran was born on April 21, 1928 to Hilda and Theodore Hiesser Sr. in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Edison High School in 1946. After graduating, she started her first job in the banking industry in 1947, working as a teller at San Antonio Savings and Loan. With her skill and charm, Fran worked her way up and retired as a senior vice president almost 40 years later.
Fran loved to travel, both domestically and abroad. She travelled to Europe, including Paris, France, as well as throughout the United States, including the state of Washington many times. She was an active member of the Disciples of Christ Church. She was a vibrant resident of Morningside Manor, volunteering and befriending new residents. She had keen insight into her fellow residents, and was sure to get help for those in need. Fran was a leader, but also loved to party, a frequent occurrence at the Manor!
Fran was an avid Spurs fan and also played softball and bowled. She doted on her dogs, Muffin and Coco. Fran was known for her friendliness, humor, and outstanding leadership skills. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Fran is survived by her three nieces, Debbie Tripp, Valerie Gear, and Sandra Emerson (Matt); grandnephews, Rob Tripp (Heer Mehta), Timothy Emerson, and Daniel Emerson; grandnieces, Sarah Gear-Carranza (Eddie) and Rachel Emerson; and one great-grandniece, Faye Tripp.
Fran was preceded in death by her brother, Ted; her parents, Hilda and Theodore; and her dear friend, Diana. She is also survived by many cousins.
Fran will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, next to her mother and father. Although Fran chose not to have funeral services, friends and family can remember her by volunteering, making an effort to befriend others, and to laugh and enjoy life. When you have a photo taken, remember, instead of just saying “cheese,” say “cheese, tequila, margarita, whiskey sour!”
