Frances M. Rhodes of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on October 29, 1936, in Leona, Texas to Henry Milton Lewis, a Baptist minister, and Rosa Virginia Wester, a music teacher.
Frances served as Northside ISD Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Administration and is the namesake of Frances M. Rhodes Elementary. Her career spanned 32 years. She also served as teacher and principal at Oak Hills Terrace and Fernandez Elementary Schools.
She was actively involved in Church, loved her family, gardening, and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Virginia Lewis; husband, Milton Lane Rhodes Jr.; and sister, Doris Moorehouse.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Sherri Morris (Bert), Cindy Langford (Paul); grandchildren, Lauren Armstrong (Bodie), Landrie Sanquilly (Nick), Bryan Morris (Baleigh), Zackry Langford (Rebecca), Darren Langford (Cailin), Adam Langford (Olivia), Kayla Langford (Tyler); and great-grandchildren, Kylie Eickstead, Austin Eickstead, Kallie Armstrong, Kynzlie Armstrong, Liam Sanquilly, Samuel Langford, Isaiah Langford, and Henry Langford.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Woodland Church at 15315 Huebner Rd San Antonio, Texas 78248 on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00pm. Reception will follow in Maresh Hall.
