Frances Kneupper Richter, age 72, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021. Frances was born on August 5, 1949, to Erwin and Elizabeth Ruby Naeglin Kneupper. After graduating from John Marshall High School in 1967, Frances moved from her parents home in the country to an apartment within walking distance from Mr. Millers Barbecue Restaurant where she worked to support herself and to save money for a car. In 1976, she married James P. Richter. Two children were born to this union: her daughter Belinda K. Richter and James E. Richter.
In addition to caring for her two young children, Frances secured a job at the University of the Incarnate Word where she also began taking classes toward her college degree. After securing her degree, Frances was hired by the Internal Revenue Service where she worked as a federal agent for over 20 years until her retirement.
Frances not only helped purchase their family home in San Antonio but also contributed to the development and maintenance of the family farm in Poth. She served as the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) president for a number of years, helping to raise money for various school improvement projects, including the planting of three large oak trees which continue to tower beside Pecan Valley Elementary School.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband of forty-four years. She is survived by her daughter, Belinda K. Richter, as well as her son James (Jim) Richter, his wife Sara, and their two daughters Lauren and Annabella. Frances is also survived by her three brothers: Lee Kneupper, and wife Becky, Calvin Kneupper, and wife Ruthie, and Ralph Kneupper. Frances two surviving sisters are Margaret Kneupper and Lyndia Sachtleben, and husband Jesse. She is also survived by several friends including her childhood friend and confidant of more than sixty-two years, Linda Z. Anderson. Frances is survived and also fondly remembered by a long list of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In spite of Frances inability to walk in her later years and her dependence upon using a wheelchair, she will be remembered for routinely providing transportation for her granddaughters to and from school, giving them loving care and helping them with homework, while also teaching them to prepare meals and make cakes, pies, cookies and quilts. She will be remembered for helping them set up and operate a neighborhood lemonade stand and a pet-care service which included feeding and walking friends pets to keep her precious granddaughters actively engaged during the weeks of multiple summer vacations. Frances will always be remembered for her generosity, kindness, patience and her ability to forgive those who wronged her. She will be remembered for her love of God and her hope of having Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
