She was preceded in death by her grandson, Dustin Danklefs; and her beloved husband of 59 years, Vernon C. Spencer. She is survived by 2 sisters; 1 brother; a son, James C. Spencer Lori; and 3 daughters, Joyce Gayle Gates Clem, Nancy Louise Trammell Charles, and Shirley Jean Danklefs. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mama was a homemaker who loved cooking, gardening, writing poetry, sewing, and making crafts. Her homemade yeast rolls and meringue pies would win any Blue Ribbon. She attended Southwest Texas State Teaching College where she enjoyed playing sports. She was a joy to all she met. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved listening to her many stories about growing up.
We would like to thank the staff at Regent Care Center at Oakwell Farms, the doctors and nurses at Northeast Baptist Hospital, and the staff of VITAS for the loving care shown our mother. We will miss her tremendously, but cherish the time and memories she gave to us. Her motto to live by was "Where there's a will there's a way."
Mom, you will be missed by all whose lives you touched.
