Born in 1916 in Lamesa, Texas, he became a surgeon at Baylor Medical School in 1944.
He served in the U. S. Naval Hospital as a physician during WWII and as a general practitioner in West Texas for many years.
He mainly dedicated his life to the treatment and prevention of substance abuse.
He is survived by his children, Allen, Karen, Lana, and Joe; his grandchildren; his siblings, Frank and Georgia, and his beloved wife, Estella.
