Francisco Robles Martinez, Jr., known affectionately as Pancho, Pelon, or Frank to his friends, and as Grandpa or Big Popo to the family and grandchildren he cherished, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on April 25, 1945, in San Antonio, TX, Frank was a pillar of the Southside community. For 32 years, he ran a successful Mexican food products business, working six days a week and waking up at 3:00 a.m. sharp to ensure he was home with his wife by 2:00 p.m. Frank had a passion for fishing, hunting with his sons and grandkids, and gambling—where he was known for always winning.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 61 years, Gloria Guerrero Martinez, who remained by his side until his final breath. He is also survived by his children, Francisco Guerrero Martinez III (Geraldine), Suzann Guerrero Martinez, and Gabriel Guerrero Martinez (Monica); his grandchildren, Stephanie Navarijo (Patrick), Amanda Hurtado (Christopher), Lori Martinez, Frankie Martinez, Megan Martinez, Gabriella Martinez, Joshua Barrientes, Michael Barrientes, and Jason Barrientes; and many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Martinez Sr.; his mother, Belia Robles Martinez; and his daughter, Gloria Ann Martinez.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a memorial rosary to follow on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Texas. A small reception service will follow the conclusion of the funeral at 1325 N Flores St Suite #116, San Antonio, TX 78212.
