

Frank Michael La Manna, Sr., lovingly known as Frank, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 88 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 19, 1938, Frank lived a life defined by faith, service, love, and devotion to family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering commitment to the people and principles he held dear.
A devoted Christian, Frank's faith in God was the foundation of his life. He found great joy in studying the Bible, serving the Lord, and sharing his faith with others. His gentle spirit, thoughtful wisdom, and steadfast trust in God's plan touched countless lives. Whether through words of encouragement, acts of kindness, or quiet example, Frank demonstrated what it meant to live a life rooted in faith and grace.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic with the First Cavalry Division and served in Korea during his military career. He carried the values of duty, integrity, compassion, and service throughout his life. Those who knew him admired his humility, patriotism, and willingness to help others without seeking recognition.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony La Manna and Salvatora Balsamo La Manna; his brothers, Joseph La Manna, Leo La Manna, and Carmen La Manna; and his children, Anita Marie La Manna and Michael Anthony La Manna.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Vernadette P. La Manna, whose love and companionship brought him immense happiness throughout their marriage. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and mutual devotion.
He is also survived by his children, Mark Steven La Manna (Vickie), Brenda Dee Riley (Tom), Frank Michael La Manna, Jr. (Sharon), and Michelle Ann La Manna Mungia (Robert); his stepchildren, Larry Lewis (Lisa) and Arvis D. Johnson (John); his cherished dog, Charlie, who was a constant companion and brought him great joy; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
Frank will be remembered for his warm sense of humor, his gentle heart, and his ability to make others feel welcome and valued. He enjoyed collecting pennies and found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He had a gift for telling stories, sharing laughter, and offering wisdom when it was needed most. His presence brought comfort to those around him, and his faith provided a guiding light for his family.
Though his absence leaves a profound void, those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into the presence of his Lord and Savior and reunited with loved ones who preceded him in death. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and unconditional love.
Frank Michael La Manna, Sr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory continue to inspire acts of kindness, faith, and devotion for generations to come.
The family will receive guests from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Cornerstone Church, 18755 Stone Oak Pkwy, San Antonio, TX 78258 with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
A Committal Service will take place following the service Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1:15 p.m., at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
