A Memorial Service for Frank R. Marasco, Jr, age 74 will be held April 30th at 2 p.m. at Madison Square Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. Streaming will be available through Facebook and a reception will follow. Frank was born October 1st, l947 and left this earth on March 2nd, 2022. He was born in San Antonio to Frank R. Marasco, Sr. and Florence Williams, Marasco, Smith. Both preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are brothers Albert Marasco and Marshall Williams.
Frank is survived by his sisters, Delia Cope (Ronnie), Cindy Barker (Mark), Gail Markum (Charles) and sister-in-law Donna Williams; cousins, John, and Richard Tedrowe; his incredibly special friend Hank Norvell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Frank was born into this world as the Sixth Grandson of Jos Antonio Navarro; one of the three signers of the Declaration of Independence from Mexico.
Frank graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio. He continued his studies in graphic design and psychology at Bellevue Community College, University of Washington and at St. Marys University of Texas.
He later moved to Austin where he was a founding member of the Metropolitan Community Church and served as Musical Director. He was an active member of the Freedom Seekers; an evangelical group.
He also served as Music Director at the Gathering Place and a Deacon at UpRising Church in Austin. He bought Meyer Electrical in Austin and ran it for many years. He loved doing electrical work for anyone, sometimes taking pay in the form of a steak or something else.
Once he moved back to San Antonio, he became an active member of the Madison Square Presbyterian Church. He was active in the Choir, Audio-Visual Tech Team, VBS and became a Deacon and then serving as a Ruling Elder. He taught many people the Word of God. In addition to his work at the Church he enjoyed being Farmer Frank and working with the children at the Institute of Texan Cultures. He was a beloved Docent there and was Docent of the Year in 2019.
Frank had many attributes: being interested in art and theatre, a wonderful keyboard musician, with the piano and organ. If you were with Frank, you were happy because he was always a great guy, kind, funny, and he knew how to fix or build anything. He brought love and joy to everyone he encountered. A devout friend, who reached out and helped so many people. He prided himself that he was a heck of a good cook and loved cooking for others and sharing.
Frank never met a person that he did not like, and no one ever met Frank that did not love him.
He lived every second with his heart, even in the worst of times.
God blessed Frank with a heart of a gold. He has now taken him in His arms. We rejoice in knowing that he is at peace. Fly high and use your wings to continue bringing love and joy to everyone.
"Well done my good and faithful servant."
From Franks own words: "Bye Bye for Now"
