Frank Nigrelle, age 61, passed away on 28 November 2002 after a five-year battle with cancer. Born 5 May 1941, he was a ninth generation Texan and descendent of the Canary Islanders and of John W. Smith, the last messenger from the Alamo and first mayor of San Antonio. He led a life of extreme generosity and commitment. He is survived by his most devoted wife Margaret Hess Nigrelle, daughter, Lisa Nigrelle Switzer and husband Michael Brian Switzer, his mother, Margaret Gastring Nigrelle, two brothers, Dr. Martin J. Nigrelle and David J. Nigrelle, and sister, Lucie Elizabeth Nigrelle as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
