

Frankie Phillips Giesler passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24, 2016, after an extended illness. She was born on July 3, 1927 to Olga Standefer Phillips and Professor Frank Roy Phillips, in Canyon, Texas. She attended West Texas State College and graduated from Texas State College for Women, Denton, (now TWU) with a degree in Early Childhood Education, in 1947. While teaching at Dallas Country Day School, she met Charles Giesler, Perkins School of Theology seminary student. After marriage to Charles in 1950, Methodist church appointments sent the Gieslers to Clarkton, MO, San Antonio, Lyford, Fredericksburg, Harlingen, Bishop, McAllen, San Angelo, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and finally, back to San Antonio. She was a public school teacher in every town she lived until her retirement in 1988. She served as a very pro-active 'Minister's Wife' with every church congregation that Charles served. She was committed to the tenets of the Christian faith and the United Methodist Church and dedicated to justice and compassion for all people.
Frankie was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and sister, and took great pride in her family's accomplishments. She was an avid music lover, a genuine people person, an animal lover and she loved being outdoors. With her family, she enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe. Frankie and Charles made many, many trips to France and California to be with their children and grandchildren.
Frankie was preceded in death by husband Rev. Charles Giesler. She is survived by son John Giesler, Dallas; daughter Amy Schaffner and husband Richard Schaffner, Dallas; daughter Carolyn Farmer and husband Dr. Patrick Farmer, Waco; grandchildren Luke Schaffner, Fayetteville, AR; Camille Schaffner, Fort Worth; and John Farmer and Jessica Farmer, Waco; her sister Bettye Jane Phillips Moody, of Boise, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews in Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, and Washington State.
A memorial service to celebrate Frankie's life will take place at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, 825 E. Basse Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209 at 10:00am on Saturday, February 13th.
