

He was a graduate of Calumet High School in Chicago, IL and Morgan Park College in Morgan Park, IL. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago, where he studied Chemical Engineering.
He was instrumental in the development of K-Rations for the Armed Forces which deferred him from service overseas.
Until 1945, he was employed by Armour and Co.; in 1946, joined Anderson Clayton Foods and in 1949, relocated to Monterrey, Mexico.
After retirement in 1977, he moved to San Antonio, Texas and became a consultant for several companies in the food industry.
As a consultant, he traveled to many Third World countries assisting with the Foods Division of the World Bank.
Always strong in his faith and beliefs, he became a Deacon and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio. He proudly served on the Building Committee, Finance Committee, and was a Founder of KEYS at First Presbyterian Church.
He was a Life Member of the American Oil Chemist Society and the Downtown Rotary Club.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed golf with his friends, fishing whenever possible and traveling.
Franklin was well respected for his values of honesty, integrity, responsibility and faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marian Harriet Khym Moran.
He is survived by his beloved wife, June V. Petersen Khym; and loving daughter, Georgia June Khym-Heath and husband, Michael R.
