Our heartfelt sympathy to Mary, Johnny and the entire Mendoza family. I always admired the close knit family unit of the entire Mendoza family, and knew that this was due to the love and respect that Fred and Mary instilled in each of their children as they were growing up. Fred was a wonderful man, father, friend, neighbor, who we shared some good laughs with. We are all better people for having been touched during our lives by such an honest man!

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet your wonderful father many years ago.  The stories Mary Ellen has shared with me about your father through the years always warmed my heart.  I know that he will be missed, but I know God has perfect timing and he was exactly where he should of been when he was called to be in the presence of our Lord.  I will pray for you as you not only grieve his loss, but celebrate his life.

We were sorry to hear about Fred.  The memories of the Mendoza family from T & L Ice House, Lester's(Helotes) and Around the Bend will always be in our hearts. Our deepest sympathies fo the all the Mendoza Family.  Mickey Sheryl, Linda and the Smith Family.

We will dearly miss our next door neighbor, Mr. Mendoza.  I always called him Mr. Mendoza because I respected him so much and didn't know his first name until today. I employed a couple of Fred's sons when I owned Dollar Rent-A-Car in the seventies and they were fine, hard-working young men. When I met Fred, I quickly discovered where they got these qualities from as Fred was a fine gentlemen who was kind and generous.  I enjoyed several parties at his home and his company like the food was terrific!

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.

I can't remember how many times I drove into the Mendoza's yard with Robert and was not surprised to find "Mr. Mendoza" outside doing something. He would smile and greet you with open arms. I always felt welcomed. Last year when Natalie got married, I will say that to me..."Mr. Mendoza" stole her thunder in my eyes, because it made my day to see him again! It had been too long.

We were deeply saddened to hear of your loss.  Mr. Mendoza was such a wonderful person and a great inspiration. Hunting season won't be the same without him, but what joy there must be in heaven!

Mr Mendoza was always happy in my memory.  It was especially obvious as he would sit and listen to the Mariachi bands that came to many of his great parties.  His love for life in the outdoors was shared by many and I especially remember his teachings of grilling chicken over his cinderblock pit in the backyard, very early in my life.  

As a dad, he taught his children good values in life and raised them all safe and sound, in the early years on Sumack.  We all learned how to play together fairly, how to make a safe tree-house and how to pitch camp.

His 95 years were rich with memories and love, shared with my family
 -  and I will always keep his spirit in my heart.

My best memory of Mr. Mendoza is that he loved attending the Holy Cross Alumni Softball Tournament every Memorial Day weekend and really got into the competition. My sympathies to the entire Mendoza family especially Robert (Bobby), my former classmate ('69) at Holy Cross.
