Fred's gregarious personality earned him many friends over the years, and he never knew a stranger.
His friendly nature also served him well in his long career as a Beautician in the salons of San Antonio. Most recently, as a waiter, his customers appreciated the way he served up their food: with a side of attitude.
Along with Shelton DuBose, his partner for many years, and his good friend Rusty Stofa, he was actively involved in raising countless funds for organizations supporting patients with HIV/AIDS. Included in those were: We Are Alive, River City Living Church, the San Antonio AIDS Foundation, the Alamo Area Resource Center, the Bullfrog Benevolence Fund, Chrissie's Kids, Beat Aids, Firedancers of SA, TGRA and numerous others.
He distinguished himself by always volunteering for any worthy cause.
Fred was preceded in death by his life partner of 17 years, Samuel Shelton DuBose, his father, Fred Albert Stanteen, and his mother, Ruth Elizabeth Stanteen.
He is survived by many who love him, including: Rusty Stofa, his partner; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Jason Guidry; grandson, Sean Charles Guidry Stanteen; sisters, Carolyn Stanteen and Willie Ann Wilson; nephews, Edward Stanteen and Brandon Terpening; niece, Ima Louise Elizabeth Terpening; numerous friends mourn his passing as well.
