He was eighty-one years old. Dr. Duhl was the founder and director of the Boston Family Institute where he trained many family therapists from Boston and the New England area.
He retired to San Antonio in 2003. Dr. Duhl was well respected as a pioneer in the field of family therapy; as a teacher and innovator. He brought an essential caring curiosity to his clients when he inquired,"What's it like to be you"
He taught his concepts and processes all over the world; in Europe, South America, Canada and Mexico as well as throughout the United States.
Dr.Duhl is survived by his wife, Verne Lee Cooper of San Antonio, his son Joshua Duhl, his daughter-in-law Lee, and grandson Tyler of Golden, CO; his daughters, Sara Duhl of South Dakota, and Dina and her husband Christopher McLelland of Antioch, CA .He also leaves four step-children, their spouses, and six grandchildren.
