Fritz Walter Gunther born in San Antonio, Texas, October 5, 1924, died Friday, October 19, 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrich Wilhelm and Frances Hohn Gunther, and his sister, Ruthabel G. Posey. Fritz was a lifetime member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of San Antonio. He served three years in the 5th Air Force during World War II afterwhich he was in the Banking industry for 45 years. He was Vice President of Richard Gill Co., Vice President of San Antonio Savings Association, Senior Vice President of San Antonio Credit Union, and President and CEO of SACU Employees Life Insurance Company. He also served on the State of Texas Credit Union Commission and was on the Board of Directors of San Antonio Retail Merchants Association. He was past member of the City Council of Castle Hills, the 20-30 Club of San Antonio and the Northwest Cosmopolitan Club. He was an avid computer enthusiast and before becoming disabled enjoyed fishing, boating, flying and travel. He is survived by his wife, Mineola; daughter, Rebecca Frances; son, John Walter and wife Kimberly; and granddaughter, Grace Julia.
