

Gabriel served in the Army National Guard Military Police for 20 years. He received several decorations during his time such as the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal; Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon. He worked in the City of San Antonio Animal Control for 17 years, the San Antonio Park Police for 13 years and the Bexar County Deputy Constable for 10 years.
Gabriel had several hobbies, he loved to listen to music and had the moves to back the beat. He also loved to go fishing in the rivers and visit the lake with his family. Gabriel was a jokester by heart, also laughing and sharing his jokes with the family. He never missed a football game or a rerun of old western movies on the TV. Most of all, Gabriel loved his family. He worked hard to provide for them.
Gabriel will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Benita and Gabriel Escobedo; Virginia Sandoval; and beloved dog, Zero.
His memory will forever live in the heart of his wife, Gloria M. Escobedo; children, Louis Valdez (Cristina), Rita Escobedo, Richard Escobedo, Benjamin Escobedo, Gabriel Anthony Escobedo; step-children, Ernest Mesquiti (Lara), Alexander Mesquiti (Melissa), Bridget Flores (Oscar). Siblings, James Morrison, Gabriel "Boy" Escobedo, and Lisa Carranco. He will also be remembered by his 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A visitation for Gabriel will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A rosary will occur Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 7:00 PM, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A mass of the resurrection will occur Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church, 130 S San Augustine Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78237. A committal will occur Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78226.
