Gabriel was born in Monterrey, Mexico to Teresa and Andres Lozano and moved to San Antonio, Texas where he met his future wife Lindy. Gabriel graduated from Jefferson High School and shortly after, joined the Air Force Reserves in 1970 where he served our country for almost 7 years. Gabriel joined the San Antonio Police Department in 1972 where he served the downtown community as a patrolman until 1984. Gabriel was an entrepreneur at heart, opening two successful restaurants and eventually a pest control company which he enjoyed running for over 30 years before retiring in 2020.
Gabe married Lindy Walker on June 20, 1975. They had a daughter who blessed them with three amazing grandchildren. When Gabriel was not building successful businesses or spending time with friends and family, he could be found gardening, trying new recipes, or working on home projects, but those that knew him best, know that fishing was one of his favorite pastimes.
Above all, Gabriel was known to so many as incredibly humble, overly generous and consistently kind and friendly. Filled with gratitude and grace, Gabriel lived a life of service to all those that he encountered. He treated his garbage collector the same as he would royalty because he believed that we are all worthy of dignity and respect. Gabriel lived out his life prioritizing humor, positivity, simplicity, and love and never wanted it any other way.
Gabriel is survived by his daughter, Lisa Lozano Vines; grandchildren, Rylee Vines, Reid Vines and Carson Vines; sister, Maria Cristina Dennis; brother, Andres Lozano.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Thursday, February 29, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM. with a funeral service at 12:00 PM and entombment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
Although any attire is welcomed, family would like to suggest that those who feel inclined wear festive attire (Hawaiian shirt or guayabera were Gabe’s favorites).
