Gabriela Eugenia (Rodriguez) Fortunatti, age 47, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters and family on Thursday, August 9, 2018. She was born March 12, 1971 in Los Angeles, California to the late Jorge Rodriguez and Eugenia (Bolio) Rodriguez.
She graduated from Providence High School in Burbank, California.
She married Alberto Fortunatti in 2003; together they had two beautiful daughters.
She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend to all. She was the life of the party, always asked to plan parties big and small.
She had a passion for world-wide travel which began at the age of one, where she spent every summer in Merida, Mexico; which she considered her second home. She worked for SkyWest Airlines for 18 years. She enjoyed traveling to Africa, Asia, the Middle-East, Australia, Europe, Russia, Greece, and Italy, many destinations in South America, Mexico, Tahiti, and Northern America. She enjoyed traveling by cruise ships as well, entering ports in Alaska and the Mexican Riviera; taking her daughters with her whenever possible.
She volunteered for The Girl Scouts of America as a Troop Leader and Tejeda Service Unit Team Director. In her honor, the San Antonio Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas have lowered the Girl Scouts Flag to half staff through Friday, August 17, 2018.
Most recently, she worked for JP Morgan Chase Bank.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Hector Bolio Guerra, Maria Luisa Duarte Canto, Carlos Rodriguez Peniche and Ilma Ricalde Vargas.
She is survived by her precious daughters, Sabrina and Mia and their father Alberto Fortunatti; brother, Jorge Rodriguez; mother, Eugenia Bolio de Rodriguez; her surrogate parents, Aunt Maria Luisa (Nina) Peniche and her husband uncle Willy; cousins, Will (Sarah) Peniche and their daughter Olivia, Hector (Carrie) Peniche; many other aunts, uncles and cousins in Mexico; her SkyWest Airlines and JP Morgan Chase family and many close friends and neighbors she considered family.
Family is receiving friends with a catered reception on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. A sharing of memories will begin at 7:30 pm.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion Brookdale Hospice provided Gaby and her family.
