Garry Stillman, age 65, of San Antonio, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Judith Riklin Stillman. Garry was the Reference and Collection Development librarian at the Sarita Kenedy East Law Library, at St. Mary's University School of Law. He retired in May of 2012 after 23 years of service.
What he liked best was helping students, faculty, and other patrons meet their research needs. There were new challenges for him every day from library visitors, but their "A-ha!" moment of realization was a good sign that he had helped them.
Garry liked to read history, especially Greek and Roman history. He was not very big on fiction, but enjoyed classics, Latin American literature and magical realism. His favorite fiction author was Jorge Luis Borges.
Garry was a brilliant, quiet, studious, and reserved gentleman. He will be remembered by many St. Mary's University law school students, and practicing attorneys who used the library for reference.
