He was six foot six with a heart just as big.
He was preceded in death by his stepsister, Jennifer Fanning.
He is survived by his mother, Holly Hammon; and stepfather, Doug Barth, both of San Antonio; stepbrother, Doug Barth, II of Denver, CO; stepsister, Cassie Barth of Minneapolis, MN; grandparents, Gary and Janice Hammon of San Antonio; great grandmother, Mrs. Nova Dene Beeson, San Antonio; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Gary graduated from North High School in Sioux City, Iowa, attended UTSA, and was employed with USAA in San Antonio at the time of his death.
His greatest joy in life came from being with his family and friends and helping others, and even in death he donated of himself to help others through organ donation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Police Benefit Fund, 1939 N.E. Loop 410, Suite 300, San Antonio, TX 78217 210/822-4428 Ext. 202 to honor Gary's many police officer friends.
