
Gary Lynn Hayslip, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, father-in-law, and friend went to his Father in Heaven on Saturday, January 15, 2011. He won his long battle with cancer and passed from our world at the age of 57.
Gary was born on March 29, 1953 in Carlisle, OH to Grata Louise and Edward Gordon Hayslip. He joined the US Army in 1974 and met the love of his life while stationed in Belgium. He married Frances Elaine Walker on April 23rd 1976 and served his country proudly for 23 years. Gary earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University in 1996. Gary loved woodworking and working on his truck and motorcycle. He was an outdoorsman and took joy in the wilderness, camping, and riding his motorcycle with Fran. Most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Frances Elaine; his daughter Katherine Hayslip McCloskey and her husband Terry; his son Eric Hayslip; grandchildren Drusilia Raven, Lorelei Grata, and Coralynne Frances McCloskey; in laws Ginger and Jim Meeks; Steve and Lori Walker, and David and Takako Walker; nephew James Meeks and niece Rachel Meeks, nieces Cathy and Christine Combs, Greta Schraer, Frances and Anne Walker. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog ‘Missy’. Visitation will be at Sunset Funeral home on Thursday January 20, 2011 from 6-8pm. The celebration of Gary’s life will be at North Central Christian Church on Friday, January 21, 2010 at 9am, followed by a service at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Gary’s family would like to thank the staff of MD Anderson Center in Houston, TX for their support and guidance through his long battle. In lieu of flowers, the family has established memorial fund for a Mission Trip that was dear to Gary’s heart. Donations can be made to North Central Christian Church.
