Gary was born in San Antonio, TX, to James and Julia Montague on July 2, 1946. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, beginning his service in 1969, as a Secure Communications Systems Maintenance Technician and later as a Superintendent. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant (MSgt) after 23 years of dedicated service, having earned the Meritorious Service Medal just before retirement. Throughout his life, he took up darts, pool, fishing, PC and console video gaming, and bowling. He was also very handy around the house, and was able to fix almost anything electronic. His love of bowling was not unique to him, as many of his family members are also avid bowlers. In his later years, he was still in a bowling league, and continued to bowl until he was no longer able to.
Gary is preceded in death by James Montague, Julia Montague-Clark, Doris Wilson, and David Montague.
Gary is survived by his wife, Yu Ching Montague, his daughter Karen Montague and son Paul Montague, his sister Martha Moet and his grandchildren Jasmine and Sara Montague.
Viewing will be available starting at 11:45 am on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, with funeral services beginning at 12:45 pm. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
The family of Gary wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all of his family and friends, as well as those who cared for him.
