I, unfortunately, only knew Gayle for a very short time, but her courage, sense of humor, and compassion made a life-long impression on me. She was truly one of the most memorable people it has been my pleasure to know in my 68 years on this earth! I miss her greatly.

My sincere and loving thoughts to the Halas family. Although I did not know Gayle intimately, she touched my life through my dear friend Linda and good times spent with the Swiler families throughout the past many years. I know your hearts are saddened and in pain and you are in my prayers. Remember the good times and laughter as it is so good for the soul. Listening to the stories with Gayle and the Swiler boys will always be special and bring laughter and tears of joy to my heart.

I knew Gayle from her time at SBC here in SA. She was a warm-hearted, funny lady who loved to laugh. I'm so sorry for her passing and your family's loss. My condolences.

Even though we only knew Gayle for a few years at SBC, we realized that she was truly a special lady. She could always bring a smile to our faces and was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. She will truly be missed and was loved by so many.

During my time at Holy Trinity, Gayle supported me with wisdom, humor and love. She backed me up no matter what. She gave with all her heart and I knew I could count on her no matter how hard or how silly a Life Teen presentation would be. Gayle always encouraged me to trust myself and go forward. My last visit with Gayle was when Mark Hart from Life Teen came to visit. I'd arrived at Holy Trinity nervous because it had been a while since I'd seen everyone. Gayle spotted me, made a bee line toward me and welcomed me so warmly I felt like I'd never left. She sat with me that day and I remember being so inspired by her courage and conviction that everything was as God would have it be. Even in the midst of her own suffering she remained as joyful as the day I'd met her. I'll miss Gayle a lot, but I'm happy that she is now with Jesus and I can almost hear him say to her, "Well done, good and faithful servant." God bless you all - our prayers are with you. I worked with Gayle at SBC and always marveled are her ability to see the glass as half full no matter the challenges before her. She demonstrated that ability once again as she fought her final courageous battle. After retirement, many of us would get together each month for The Breakfast Club. Her laughter and jovial nature would light up the room. Those who had just met her felt like they knew her all their lives. She was a special person. I will miss her. Merrily

Gayle will always be a beautiful lady of both heart and soul to those whose lives she touched. She was one of so few humans with such a loving & giving manner toward everyone. It seemed she only wanted us to adopt that same love and pass it on to all we touch.

I worked with Gayle occasionally up in St. Louis, but I really got to know her during the move down to San Antonio. She and I as well as many others spent many a late night shuffling furniture and PCs around in the 175 East Houston Street headquarters building. Gayle was always, cheerful, dependable and competent - the traits we all want in our peers. She was also interesting and funny - traits I look for in a friend. Perhaps my favorite Gayle story is how she came to work for Bell. She was formerly a Catholic nun and when she interviewed for a job with Bell, she had no civilian clothes so she interviewed in her habit. I would have loved to see the face of her interviewer when she showed up! Must have been a smart person, however. He/she hired Gayle. When I retired I kept touch with Gayle because we had become good friends. I treasure good friends and so I deeply mourn Gayle's passing. Losing someone as precious as Gayle leaves an ache in my heart and, I'm sure, in many of your hearts. In case she is looking down on us, I'll have to greet her one more time the way we always greeted each other, "Hey, Gayle, this is John. SNORT!"
