Genaro was born on October 19, 1945, in Beeville, Texas, to Estela Madrigal and Ernesto Rivera. He was a man known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. Throughout his life, Genaro took great pride in providing for his loved ones and building lasting relationships with family and friends.
Genaro dedicated many years of his professional life to the medical supply and equipment industry, where he was respected for his integrity, reliability, and commitment to service. His work supported healthcare professionals and patients alike, and he took great pride in contributing to a field focused on helping others. His career reflected his strong sense of responsibility and his desire to make a positive impact through his work.
Beyond his professional life, Genaro embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. He especially loved vacationing and traveling, taking great pleasure in visiting many countries throughout the years. Wherever his travels took him, Genaro delighted in experiencing new cultures, music, and traditions, often expressing that joy through his love of dancing. Whether on a trip abroad or at a family gathering, he was happiest when sharing laughter and meaningful moments with those he loved.
Genaro was preceded in death by his parents, Estela and Ernesto Rivera; his grandparents; his first wife, Yolanda Rico Rivera, who passed on July 4, 1999; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Genaro also shared a special bond with his little dog Tuffy, who was a constant companion and source of comfort in his final years. Tuffy passed away just weeks before him, a loss that deeply affected both him and Alicia.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Alicia Pruneda DeLeon; his son, Adrian S. Rivera; daughter-in-law, Sonya O. Rivera; grandson, Logan Cruz Rivera. And his bonus family, Annette DeLeon, Art DeLeon (Paula), Martin DeLeon Jr. (Michele), Donna Basta (Gary), Ken DeLeon, Melita Trista DeLeon. 8 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren.
Mass will be held on Friday January 16, 2026, at 10am, at St. Jose Luis Sanchez del Rio Catholic Church, 21140 Gathering Oak, San Antonio, Texas 78260,
