Gene T. Barrow

Gene T. Barrow, a super and loving Air Force wife of Col. Ret. Sterling E. "Yogi" Barrow, Sr. for the past 65+ years, preceded him to the Big Hangar in the Sky at age 83 on September 10, 2008 at her home in Garden Ridge, TX.

Born to Barney Sears Torrence and Ruby Mae Harrell on January 24, 1925 in Waco TX, Gene was a graduate of Pasadena High School in Pasadena, TX in 1942.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Harrell Torrence.

She is survived by her loving children - daughter Janice B. Quinn and husband Michael of NM, and son Sterling "Elton" Barrow, Jr. of Hondo, TX. "Mama Gene", as she is known by her family, is also survived by grandchildren Vala Shanti Delsarte, Jesse Elton Williams, Dylan Yancey Quinn, Daniel Elton Barrow and wife Dixie, and Grace Sterling Barrow; great-grandchildren Christian Chapman, Trevor Elton Barrow, Taylor Wayne Barrow, and Kailen Graham Quinn.

Gene will be missed by her family and many friends she made throughout 33+ years of global Air Force travel.

The family thanks their friends, neighbors and Air Force buddies worldwide for their loving care and support, and especially Vitas Innovative Hospice Care during her final days.

Private services were held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, September 19.
