

Gene Camargo, 79, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He was born to parents Leopoldo and Sara Camargo on June 6, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas. He met his loving and devoted wife, Mamie, at the early age of 11 and later they shared 59 glorious years of marriage. Together they had two amazing children, Gene Anthony Camargo and Kris Laura.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Richard Camargo. He is survived by his wife, Mamie; his children Gene Anthony and wife Rana, and Kris Laura and husband Richard Encino III; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Benjamin Encino.
He started his career as a draftsman for the City of San Antonio in 1963 and rose to the level of Director of Building Inspections before retiring in 1999. He championed many city causes from building preservation to billboards. He was an Eagle Scout and a Trinity University recognized Alumnus, both decorations of which he was very proud.
He loved spending time outdoors, hunting, and at the ranch and loved working hard no matter what the task.
Church services will be held on Friday, May 14th at St. Anthony Claret (6150 Roft Rd, San Antonio, TX) beginning at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Moore Catholic Cemetery in Moore, TX at 1:30 PM. A full obituary can be found at www.porterloring.com.
