His family and friends enjoyed his strength, quiet spirit, caring and loving personality.
He was born in Mattawamkeag, Maine on March 12, 1925 to George W. Aldrich and Lillian Clark.
George joined the Navy as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class in Howland Maine. He enlisted on January 1st, 1942 and served 21 months in the European Theatre during WWII.
George married his sweetheart Mamie Cedel Thomas of Cordova and Charleston South Carolina on February 9th, 1946. They had been married for 72 years.
After his discharge, he went to Pharmacy school and graduated on January 31, 1948. He later went to Barber College and graduated on April 21, 1950.
George then joined the Air Force where he stayed for 20 years with many Stateside and Foreign Assignments. He was a Medical Technologist in the Clinical Laboratory.
After retiring from the Air Force on January 1, 1968 at Lackland Air Force Base, he had several civilian jobs in local hospitals in San Antonio, Tx.
In 1970, George and his son Jim established Consolidated Medical Laboratories, serving local Doctors offices performing Laboratory tests. That business was sold in 1980.
Doug Aldrich, another son, joined the business during 1984. The business expanded selling Laboratory Supplies, sales of Educational Science Supplies and became Analytical Scientific. The business is still in operation today. George was active in the business until 2013.
He loved tinkering with cars; and my goodness he had a few. He also had a fondness for animals of all kinds, especially dogs; however, being with his family was his main priority.
He is survived by his wife; Mamie Cedel Aldrich, three sons, Doug Aldrich, James Aldrich and his wife Julie; Jerome Aldrich and his wife Doris. Two Daughters, Aleta Bunch and her husband, Bill; and Natali Aldrich.
Grandchildren are as follows: Jarrett Aldrich and wife Nadia, Jenny McCoy and her husband Brad; Bart Aldrich and his wife Gaile; Emily Perk and her husband, Austin; Brylee Barcelo and her husband Aaron; Ashlee Browe and her husband Eric. The great-grandchildren are as follows; Jonah, Matthew, Garrett, Grant, Augustine and Hayes.
We especially want to thank The Heritage Assisted Living for their care of George Aldrich and also thanks to all the workers at The River City Hospice.
