Born in Fredericksburg, Texas, George carried a lifelong love for his hometown and the people and memories he made there.
George proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. He later spent more than four decades as a liquor salesman with Block Distributing, where he built countless friendships along the way.
On June 3, 1960, George married the love of his life, Earleen. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, friendship, and plenty of laughter.
George loved people and knew how to have a good time. Quick-witted, generous, and full of personality, he was always ready with a story or a laugh. He enjoyed playing poker with his AAHA group, hunting, making sausage, listening to music, and a good happy hour with friends. He also had a generous heart, organizing benefits and raising money for organizations and people in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earleen; his parents, Alma and Woodrow Gold; and his brother, Jerome Gold.
He is survived by his daughters, Carol and John Mitchell, and Cathy and David Moczygemba; grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Morrow, Zac and Shelby Mitchell, Josh Moczygemba, and Jordan Moczygemba and her fiancé, Eric Albertson; and great-grandchildren, Cohen and Tatum Morrow.
George’s faith and love for Jesus remained a constant throughout his life, and his family finds comfort knowing he is reunited in Heaven with Earleen.
George will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered through the many stories, traditions, and memories he leaves behind.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to BAMC, The Village at Incarnate Word, and Gentiva Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown to George and his family during his final weeks.
