He was the beloved son of Raymond and Teenie Powers.
George is survived by his mother, Teenie Powers; his sister, Martha Campbell; and children, Geoffrey Powers Misty, Brian Powers Katie, Robert Raiford Susie, Cheryl Sparks Brian; and grandchildren, Devin Powers and Caitlin Dreher; and extended family. He leaves his wife, Jackie, to celebrate and treasure the memory of more than 22 wonderful years together.
George served with great pride as a Houston Police Officer, and as the Chief of Police of the University of Texas at San Antonio. He will be remembered as a steadfast and joyful friend and partner. His love, his laugh, and his zest for life were unforgettable.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Tolcher and his staff, and the staff of VITAS Hospice for their care, compassion and support.
