He was born March 28, 1922, in Noodle, Texas, to the late W.C. and Lela Thompson.
George attended New Mexico A&M University. After 28 years of dedicated service to his country as a pilot, he retired from the US Navy.
As a second career, he worked for Southwestern Bell. George was the president of the Lions Club as well as the AT&T Pioneers.
George will dearly be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dr. Merrell Thompson and Marshall Thompson; and sister, Eno Manley. George is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nita Thompson; daughter, Terry Woltersdorf and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Matthew Woltersdorf and wife, Kelly and Emily Eikenberg and husband, Rodney; great-grandchildren, Parker Woltersdorf and Collin Eikenberg.
