Georgia Catherine Buchholtz (known to everyone she met as Peach) passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009. Born in Cumberland, Maryland, on January 13, 1939, Peach was 70 years old. She was preceded in death by her father, George Edward Speis. She is survived by her husband Bill (Colonel USAF Retired); her mother Goldie Regina (Twigg) Speis of Cumberland; two daughters, Kimberly (Kim) Miller of Floresville and Susan (Sue) Harmer of Spring Branch; two grandchildren Regina (Gina) McMillan and Austin (Will) Harmer of Spring Branch; three sisters, Nancy, Judy, and Kathi; two brothers, George Junior (Butch) and James (Jim); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all from Cumberland and the surrounding area. Peach and Bill attended school together and graduated from Cumberland's Allegany High in 1957. They were married in February 1958; and they spent the following thirty-six years traveling to places such as Taipei, London, Athens, Frankfurt, Hawaii, Washington, San Angelo, and San Antonio, and many other locations that Bill served as a member of the USAF. Peach never met a stranger; she was an Air Force Wife extraordinaire; and she was clearly Bill's single most important partner and best friend. After retiring from the Air Force, Peach and Bill settled in the San Antonio area to be near their children and grandchildren. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the San Antonio Military-Civilian Club. Family and friends are welcome from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 for a "Remembrance Gathering" at the Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Las Lomas K9 Rescue and Adoption, 1998 County Road 126, Floresville, Texas 78114; or St. Anthony's Place (Food Pantry), 109 North Smallwood, Cumberland, Maryland, 21502.
