

Georgia Lee Moore Druit, age 87, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on April 15, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Clarence and Edna Mildred Dowley Moore. She spent her formative years in Joplin, MO. Georgia married Clifford A. Druit in 1954 while he was attending college at Oklahoma State University and supported him through college and during his 32 year military career through 25 moves, 2 tours to Vietnam and raising two children with love and laughter. During her career as a military wife, she led and participated in many volunteer organizations benefitting Army families and served as a mentor and example to hundreds of young Army wives. Georgia was cited by the Department of the Army for her many outstanding contributions to Army families and Army Family Programs. By her example she instilled a sense of service to country and community in her children and those around her.
Georgia was much beloved by her family and friends. She had a gift of accepting people and making them feel loved and understood. The list of people she considered “Kids” includes people from all over the world who will miss her gracious presence. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed the wonderful friendships of her San Antonio Bridge sisters. Georgia was a wonderful cook and is known for having just the right recipe for any occasion. She took great pleasure in sharing her culinary creations and recipes with friends and family, always adding her love as the most important ingredient.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lyla Gene Harter. Georgia is survived by her husband, BG Clifford Druit, U.S. Army, Ret.; children, daughter, Michiel and her husband LTC Stephen DeVito, US. Army, Ret. Son, Clifford Jr. and his wife Autumn Renee; two grandchildren, Nicholas A. DeVito and Elizabeth Grace Druit; two sisters, Mary Ann Edwards and Rhea Cooper; a beloved sister-in-law, Evelyne Druit; numerous nieces and nephews, a large extended family in both the USA and France and friends around the world.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House, serving Military Families around the world or a charity of choice in her name.
