Georgia was born on June 6, 1939, and raised on the historic King Ranch in Norias, Texas, to Cecilia (Garcia) Durham and Ed Durham. Her childhood was rich with character and charm—most memorably, she rode her Shetland pony to and from school each day. Growing up bilingual, Georgia carried her cultural roots and love of learning with her throughout her life.
She pursued higher education at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, where she earned a Bachelor’s in Education. Georgia went on to devote 30 years to teaching, shaping young minds in Corpus Christi and San Antonio with passion, patience, and care.
Georgia enjoyed many of life’s pleasures, and shopping was among her favorites. It brought her happiness and was a small but meaningful expression of her vibrant personality.
Georgia shared 61 years of marriage with her beloved husband, James E. Stillwell, until his passing in September of 2025. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and dedication to one another.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecilia and Ed Durham; her husband, James E. Stillwell; her son, James Todd Stillwell; and her sister, Carrie Gies.
Georgia is survived by her son, Tobin Stillwell and his wife Karen; her sisters, Lucy Ramirez (Dr. Manuel Ramirez), Eddy Cisneros (Marc Cisneros), and Lavoyger Durham; along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.
Georgia Lee Stillwell will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to education and family, and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind.
