

Gerald Michael (Mike) Cox was born on June 11, 1948 in Covina, California to the late Gerald Cox and Betty McMahon-Cox-Goodson. He was the eldest of four children. Randy Cox (Brother), Lana Kay Cox (Sister), both preceded . He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Florencia Candaleria Cox, and his brother Robert Goodson. Sister-In-Law Maria G. Rodriguez, Niece-Lola Rodriguez (Baby Girl), Nephews Antonio and Reyes Rodriguez. His sons, Michael Lewis Cox and Matthew Glen Cox. Also preceding him, was his Father & Mother-In-Law: Reyes & Lucy Rodriguez. He was also blessed with numerous family and friends, Ken from California and Carl Gibbs from Bryan, Tx.
Mike grew up and was raised throughout many states but his fondest memories were growing up in Alaska. In Alaska, he was able to be with nature: enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking, and also learned how to dog sled with all the Siberian Huskies that the family had during their stay. He later enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1967 and retired after twenty years. He was very proud to have served his country and always showed the colors in front of his home. He belonged to Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Vets and was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Committee. Retired as Sergeant First Class in the 603rd Transport Division, he was nicknamed Boss Hog, served 3 tours in Vietnam.
Following his retirement from the Army in 1987, Mike decided to retire in San Antonio, Texas. He was a single father raising his son until 1992, when he met the "Love-of-His-Life", and later loving and devoted wife, Candy. Together they enjoyed many years together and spent their time traveling, fishing, watching old westerns, but mostly enjoying spending time with his friends and the Rodriguez family. In addition, Mike supported Candy in all her endeavors and he was a major donor of Community Angels, Inc.
