Gerald attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School and graduated from Central Catholic High School. He started his college career at the University of Houston which was cut short when he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force and marry the love of his life, Carrie M. Harbert. He was stationed in Ft. Worth and spent time in Okinawa, Japan. At the end of his enlistment, he was honorably discharged and joined Xerox to pursue his career in the IT sector. During his time with Xerox, he started back to school and finished with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from The University of San Antonio. He then went to work for FedEx until it was time for him to retire. He enjoyed his retirement years helping friends and family with all of their technology needs and wants, capturing life events as the “unofficial” photographer, and riding his bicycle any time he had the chance. He was an avid rider; riding many times for the MS Society in their annual Bike to the Beach and other charity rides in neighboring cities. Even though he stayed busy during his retirement years, he always made time for his lifelong childhood friends, The SandBox Crew, who met for lunch or dinner on a regular basis and for anyone wanting a lesson on how to drink whiskey, preferably Glen Levit 12.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carrie M. Jackson; son, Mark A. Jackson; and brother, Barclay Jackson. Gerald is survived by his daughter, Randi J. Benson (Robert); granddaughter, Sydney J. Benson; brothers, Gordon L. Jackson (Frances) and Gregory L. Jackson (Adriane); sister, Jamette M. Davis (Odie); brother-in-law, Roy F.
