

Lt. Gen. Gerald J. Post USAF Ret., age 78, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003. In November, 1973, General Post became Deputy Chief of Staff, material management and in December, 1975, he became Chief of Staff for the command. He was reassigned to Headquarters U.S. Air Force in June, 1977 to position of Director, logistics plans and programs. In October, 1977, he became Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, systems and logistics. On August 1, 1978, General Post became Director of Defense Logistics Agency. He was a master navigator. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He was promoted to the grade of Lieutenant General on August 1, 1978, with the same date of rank. Survivors: wife, Jane S. Post; daughter, Sharyn Post, Springfield, VA; sons, Gerald Post, Jr. and wife, Kay, Cheyenne, WY, Steven Post and wife, Ursula, Plano, TX, Richard Post and wife, Bonnie, Austin, TX, Sean Post and wife, Julie, Deltona, FL and David Post and wife, Ericka Ramirez-Post; daughter, Tracy Krupa and her husband, Michael, all of San Antonio; sisters-in-law, Mary-Phylis Post, Methuen, MA and Patricia Coulon, East Bridgewater, MA; 21 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
