

Gerald was married to the love of his life, George Anna, for just shy of 63 years. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and for a short time in the Korean conflict. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma majoring in Business. Ending up in San Antonio, he worked for City Public Service for 32 years retiring in 1986.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition, he was a Freemason and an avid golfer for many years, belonging to the Alzafar Shrine Golf Unit.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Hazel Trapnell; his wife, George Anna Trapnell; his son, Jerry G. Trapnell; and sister, Betty Nicols. Gerald is survived by his daughter, Mary Anna Groves (Brent); grandchildren, Joshua Groves (Jessica) and Caleb Groves (Brianna); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., December 13, 2020, with services on December 14, 2020 at 12:30 p.m., both at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78212.
Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Alzafar Shrine Center, 901 N. Loop 1604 West, San Antonio, TX 78232.
