
Geraldine Bender was born in Holton, Kansas, the youngest child of Mabel Eller Springer and Alfred Wesley Bender. She attended Stevens College and Kansas State University. She married Dr. Frederick Adams Peery on June 26, 1937 and son moved to San Antonio They welcomed daughters, Susan and Carolyn to complete their family. In the late 60's, they moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, living there for 9 years. In the late 70's, they returned home. In 1987 and 1989, their two granddaughters, Anne Elizabeth and Catherine Suzanne Pfeiffer arrived to Fred and Geraldine's delight. Mrs. Peery's life's vocation was education. She was a dedicated teacher, particularly teaching Home Economics at Edison High School. She was a lifelong member of Tri Delta Sorority and an active, longstanding member of the San Antonio Alumni Chapter. She was a member of their Golden Circle, lauding her 50+ years of membership. She will always be remembered for her generous lovingkindness, her great sense of humor and style, her keen intelligence and perception, her love of travel and bridge her spunk and spirit, her love of life and her happy and optimistic attitude, even in adversity. Her husband, daughters, sons-in-law and granddaughters were paramount to her.and she was everything to them. Her family and many, many friends who adored her will never forget her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and two sisters and her husband of 62-1/2 years. She is survived by Dr. John, Susan, Anne and Catherine Pfeiffer of Castroville, Texas, Robert and Carolyn Buchanan of Tampa, Florida; and one sister-in-law, Edris Bender Peeler of Dallas, Texas.
