David was born on August 30th 1938, in Refugio, Texas to Carlos and Jovita Garcia. David was a loving man, who would do anything he could to help those in need. He was a man who always put family first, and never once deviated from that conviction. He was a good Texan who loved simple things like the Dallas Cowboys, homemade pica, and a hearty breakfast at Jim’s. His smile could brighten the darkest of rooms, and he was warm and inviting to those he met. Being a good man was important to David, and it showed in his actions each and every day. David was a great friend, an amazing brother, and the absolute best father. David was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, and served honorably for 20 years before retiring and beginning his second career in the post office, where he spent another 20 years serving the community before retiring.
He is preceded in death by Paul, Carlos, Nick, and Tina and survived by his two daughters Kim and Kristina, his two sons Scott and Randy as well as his two granddaughters Jessica and Victoria and grandson Joseph. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 with Deacon Joe (JD) Jorgensen officiating. Interment will follow with full Army honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
