Gilbert G. Bourquin, age 85, passed away June 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and survived by his 5 daughters (& sons-in-law) Cheryl, Stephanie (Raul), Kyle (Michael), Stacie (Jerrold) and Kelley (Mark); his 11 grandchildren and his 1 great-grandson.
Gilbert’s life revolved around his family, beginning with his one true love, Catherine, whom he met in 1948. They dated and married in September 1949 and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past September.
Gilbert loved fishing, hunting and traveling. He loved throwing parties, where he could enjoy the company of family and friends. He had a passion for cooking. After retiring from VIA, he had the time to pursue catering, where he cooked for weddings, parties and other events.
Gilbert was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church where he was an usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the order of the Alhambra.
