

Gilbert was born on April 2, 1980, to Donald C. Gonzales and Francisca M. Gonzales. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology at Hallmark University, where he graduated in December 2006. During his studies, he earned the Academic Honor Award for Academic Excellence, reflecting his dedication and strong work ethic. He went on to build a successful career in the field of electronics engineering, where he applied his knowledge, skill, and commitment for many years.
In his mid-twenties, Gilbert developed a deep and personal relationship with God that became the foundation of his life. His faith gave him strength, peace, and purpose, and he lived with a quiet trust in the Lord.
Gilbert was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving parents, Donald C. Gonzales and Francisca M. Gonzales; his beloved wife, Yejmi Gonzales; his son, Steven Gonzales; and his daughter, Lucia Gonzales.
He is also survived by his sister, Dinora Guadarrama and her husband, Daniel Guadarrama; his brother, Isidro M. Gonzales and his wife, Lorie A. Gonzales; as well as many nieces and nephews and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Gilbert will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his service to his country, his love and devotion to his family, and the kindness and steadfast strength he shared with everyone who knew him. Though his time with us was far too short, his legacy of faith, love, and integrity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Gilbert will be honored with a Visitation at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237, on July 31, 2026, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a Chapel Service at 12:30 pm.
A Processional will depart from the funeral home for a Committal Service with Military Honors will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, on July 31, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
