Gilbert Mendoza Rocha, affectionately known as Gibby, entered into the loving arms our Our Lord on January 15, 2025 at the tender age of 65. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 2, 1959, to Maria Mendoza and Amado H. Rocha Jr.
Gibby had a special way of connecting with everyone around him, often calling friends and family daily, especially during football and basketball seasons. A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs, he followed every game with a passion. When his teams didn't perform well, he was known to exclaim, "No vales," a phrase that many in his family knew how he felt when they heard it.
In his neighborhood, Gibby was affectionately called "Mr. Paw Patrol," a testament to the care and watchful eye he kept over his community. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying the spirit of kindness and camaraderie.
Throughout his life, Gibby found joy in simple yet meaningful activities. He loved collecting toys, picking up cans, and working on puzzles. During his younger years, he enjoyed playing bingo and could often be found riding his scooter around San Antonio, his preferred way of getting around the city.
Gibby will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Maria and Amado Rocha Jr.; sister, Jesusita "Tuti" Hernandez, and brothers, Carlos "Chale" Rocha St., and Andrew "Yoga" Rocha.
His memory will forever live in his siblings, Maria Rocha, Juan Rocha, Martin Rocha, Gloria Rangel, Robert Rocha, Angelita Gonzales, and Christina Reyna; sister-in-laws; Tiny Rocha, Gracie Rocha and Patricia Rocha. Gibby's love will be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Gibby will always be remembered for the joy and laughter he brought into our lives.
