Gilda "Jill" Cecilia Pyle

Gilda “Jill” Cecilia Pyle of San Antonio, Texas, went to the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Jill was born in Tulare, CA on March 18, 1925. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Neil Pyle; parents Olinda and Manuel Borges; siblings, Nativa Fraga, Angela Borges and John Borges. Jill is survived by her daughter, Erin Johnson and husband, David and their children, Erich and Kiri; her son, Bryan Pyle and his step-children, Michael and Julianna Garza; her brother, Leo Borges, Godchild, Denise Campbell and husband, Donald; brother & sister-in-law, Jerry and Geraldine Pyle and various nieces and nephews. Jill worked for General Electric in San Francisco and was planning to accept an overseas position when she met Joe while vacationing in Mexico. It was love at first sight and three days later, Joe & Jill were engaged to be married. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together before Joe’s death in 2011. Jill was a devoted daughter of the Church and was a member of St. Rita’s/St. Patrick’s Guild and served as president of the Parish Council of Catholic Women as well as serving through other volunteer activities at St. Pius X for many years. Jill was devoted to her family and took great joy in her grandchildren. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Odyssey Hospice and caregivers Maria Oviedo, Isabelle Carrasco and Denise Harris for their compassion and devotion. The rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday June 22, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3303 Urban Crest, 78209. Mass will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Entombment will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Pius Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
