Glen Joseph Archer, 58, passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio, Texas, on Friday, December 20, 2024. Born on December 13, 1966, at Tripler Army Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, Glen was a loving son, brother, and friend who brought warmth and joy to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Clark High School, Glen earned his diploma in June of 1984. Following his high school years, he worked as an aviation structural mechanic for two decades, contributing his skill and expertise to both the Greenville, Texas, and San Antonio areas. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to his passions outside of work.
Glen's love of reptiles was a defining part of his life. For many years, he bred, raised, and sold various species to commercial pet venues, establishing himself as an expert in the field. His knowledge and dedication to these fascinating creatures were well-known among enthusiasts, and his work in this area brought him both fulfillment and joy.
Beyond his professional achievements, Glen had a deep love of learning. He was an avid reader with a curiosity that spanned across many subjects, always seeking to expand his understanding of the world. He was also a passionate music lover, with a particular fondness for playing guitar. Music was not just a hobby for Glen—it was a language through which he expressed his creativity and connected with friends.
Glen's friends and family will remember him as a kind-hearted, generous man who was always ready with a smile or a kind word. Whether he was sharing his knowledge of reptiles, playing guitar with friends, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Glen had a way of making those around him feel special and appreciated.
Glen was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bud and Helen Leshosky of Cuba, Kansas and Joseph and Nelly Gramsey of Hudson, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his parents, Nancy and Steven F. Archer of San Antonio, Texas, and his brother, Steven L. Archer, also of San Antonio.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the San Antonio Humane Society or the Cardiac Unit at Central Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where the care and compassion of their staff made a difference in his final days.
Glen will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, curiosity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
