Glenda was born the youngest of four on September 20, 1960 in Rochester, MN to Dr. James "Jimmy" Huff and Virginia "Scootie" Day Huff. Shortly after she was born the Huff family moved to Lubbock, TX and then on to San Antonio, TX, which became her childhood hometown. Glenda graduated from Alamo Heights High School before going onto college at the University of Texas - Austin, where she studied photojournalism. After graduating from college, she moved to Dallas, TX where she began a career in commercial photography and soon built a thriving business around her unique and beautiful black and white portraiture.
Glenda had a passion for life's adventure. She was intentional with her time - never more so than with her friends and family. Whether playing board games or lounging at the beach, she loved to be together and thrived in the open space and fresh air of the outdoors. From a young age, Glenda loved horses and eventually began competing in hunter-jumper events, winning top honors in the ring on numerous occasions. In college, she played competitive handball, which later in life transitioned to an obsession for pickleball. She played avidly with friends and those family brave enough to join her on the court. When at home, you could find her tending to her bountiful garden, working in her yard and relaxing in the hot-tub or by the pool.
Of all the people gracing her life, she loved her daughter and husband the most. At the age of thirty-five, she welcomed Caroline, her first, favorite, and only child and best friend. To Glenda, being a mom was more than just a title, it was a lifelong calling. At 46 she met the love of her life, Bill Roth, the boat-racing, Harley-riding, roofing tycoon of Dallas County. The two settled in Lucas, TX on their five-acre slice of heaven where she adopted and cared for stray cats, dogs, and retired show horses alike.
In 2023 Bill and Glenda moved back to San Antonio to be closer to family, friends, and her grand niece and grand nephews, who adored their “Gigi”. Never a dull moment in the Roth house, she was constantly surrounded by life, laughter, and love.
Glenda is survived by her husband, Bill Roth, daughter, Caroline Appleby Weeks (Blake Weeks), siblings, Foster Huff (Jessica Schulze) and Helen Huff (Paul DuBose) and a parade of nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. James Foster Huff, mother, Virginia Day Huff, brother, Dr. John Fredrick Huff, and nephew, James Foster Huff III.
